Is Kesher Scouting / Kesher Tech affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America?

How many years have you been in operation?

Kesher Scouting, having started in 2001, has been around for more than 10 years. Kesher Tech is a newer program of Kesher Scouting; our first season of Kesher Tech was 2011.

Who are your instructors?

They are a mix of highly experienced professionals and recent college graduates who are passionate about the skills they are teaching. They are committed to making your son’s summer enjoyable and to helping them leave camp excited by their newly acquired skills.

What are the minimum requirements for the computer that I need to bring to camp?

The Computer Track and Photo / Video Track have very different requirements. For the Computer Track, In general, most new-ish computers with a decent amount of memory (RAM), a bit of hard drive space, a network card and an optical drive should be fine. I recommend a larger screen to make it easier to work on, but that is, to some extent, a matter of preference. A slightly older computer is a little more questionable, but not out of the question. If you have a specific laptop in mind, you can just email the specs to us, or send us a link to the one you're considering purchasing. I would avoid getting a "netbook" and I wouldn't send it with any files or programs that aren't backed up because we will be installing (and, in some cases, un-installing) all sorts of things. For the Photo / Video Track, a newer Apple computer is required. If you’re not sure if your computer is powerful enough, please e-mail the specs to us, and we’ll let you know. For this track as well, a larger screen will definitely prove helpful.

Are there any scholarships?

Sorry. No scholarships. Once in a while we do raise some money for scholarships, so feel free to e-mail us your request just in case some scholarship money becomes available. But, please do not count on it. Be sure to call your local federation to find out if they offer any camp scholarships for which your son may by eligible.

How much learning is there? How much of the day are the boys working in their track?

The schedule consists of about 1.5 hours of learning in the morning & a half hour in the evening, 3 hours of working in the specific track that you choose, and the rest of the day is filled with an impressive list of activities and sports! We will have two big trips and a variety of day-trips throughout the summer!

From where do you offer transportation to camp? When should I book a flight?

Brooklyn, Passaic and Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI). Please make sure to book a flight that arrives before noon on the first day of camp and leaves after 3:00 PM on the last day of camp.

Is Kesher Scouting / Kesher Tech affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America?

Kesher Scouting / Kesher Tech is a “chartering organization” of a Boy Scout troop in the Boy Scouts of America. That basically means that we provide the infrastructure for the program, and we are in charge of all decisions relating to the nature of the program. Working with the Boy Scouts of America has many benefits. They have designed and improved their impressive programs for over 100 years. In addition to their programs and program materials, they provide access to spectacular grounds and facilities. They also have clear guidelines for camp and outdoor safety; thanks to their safety rules and regulations, we are able to offer the many unique programs we do. We register every boy with the Boy Scouts, so that we are covered by their insurance.
